Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-10-05
This policy explains how the GRome app for iPhone and iPad and this website handle information. GRome is provided by Unitekno (China) Limited ("we"), Room 1003, 10/F, Tower 1, Lippo Centre, 89 Queensway, Admiralty, Hong Kong.
The short version
- GRome does not require an account.
- We do not operate a photo or recipe cloud. GRome does not send your photos, recipes, camera details or usage records to us.
- GRome contains no advertising, tracking or analytics software.
- We only receive information from you if you choose to contact us.
Information kept on your device
GRome stores the following in its own data on your iPhone or iPad, to provide its features:
- Recipes: names, camera parameters, authors and sources, notes and earlier versions.
- Imported photos: the original JPEGs you select, with the capture information they already contain, which GRome does not remove. New imports are saved to Apple's Photos app.
- Import records: file names, sizes and checksums, the Photos identifiers of saved originals, and your favourites. These let GRome verify each import and show only photos it imported.
- Your camera: the Bluetooth identifier of the camera you register, when you registered it, its firmware version and the state of camera operations, so GRome does not repeat an operation whose result is unknown.
- Camera Wi-Fi details: the camera's network name and password are read from the camera during an import you start, used to ask iOS to join that network, and not saved in GRome's records. GRome removes the Wi-Fi configuration it created when the session ends.
- Preferences: such as language and appearance.
Permissions
- Bluetooth: to register your camera, read its status and turn on its Wi-Fi when you start an import.
- Local Network: to show previews and transfer photos from the camera.
- Camera: only to scan recipe QR codes. GRome does not take or keep photographs with it.
- Photos: to save the originals you import and the recipe cards you choose to save, and to read back the photos GRome imported. GRome does not scan the rest of your library. If you only allow adding photos, GRome cannot show them back to you.
GRome does not request location, contacts or microphone access. You can change permissions at any time in Settings. Recipes keep working without them.
When GRome connects to the internet
GRome only goes online when you ask it to check for camera firmware. It then requests Ricoh's official firmware page without sending photos, recipes, serial numbers, Bluetooth identifiers, passwords or any identifier of yours. Like any website, Ricoh's server receives your IP address and may keep access logs under its privacy policy.
Sharing you start
When you share a recipe card or QR code, the people or apps you choose receive what you share, which may include authors, sources and notes. Sharing does not pass through our servers.
Apple services you control
Photos you save may sync through iCloud Photos, and app data may be included in device backups, according to your Apple settings. We do not operate or control these services. GRome excludes its temporary import files from device backup.
Keeping and deleting information
- A newly downloaded photo's temporary copy is removed only after the original has been saved to Photos and checked.
- You manage saved photos in the Photos app. GRome does not delete photos from your camera.
- Removing a recipe from the list may keep its earlier versions in the app's data.
- Deleting the GRome app removes its data from that device. Photos you saved, copies you shared and device backups are not affected.
If you contact us
If you write to [email protected] or [email protected], we receive your email address, your message and any attachments. We use them only to answer you, not for marketing, and keep them only as long as needed to resolve your request. Please do not send passwords, full serial numbers or private photos.
This website
This website does not use cookies, analytics or third-party scripts. Our hosting provider may record technical information such as IP addresses in server logs to deliver and protect the site.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, such as your emails to us, in line with applicable law, including Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. Contact [email protected].
Children
GRome is a photography tool. It has no accounts, advertising or social features.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date on this page. If GRome starts to use information in a new way, we will explain it in the app and ask for your consent where required.
